What does a judge look for in order to approve or deny my request for an occupational driver license in Texas?

First the judge must establish an “essential need.” For example, you need the license to get to and from work or school. Once an essential need is established, then the judge will also verify that you have auto insurance to cover any potential accidents you may be involved in that could be deemed your fault. If these two conditions are met, then in most cases your request for an occupational driver license will be granted.
