Our clients tend to assume that any ticket received in Dallas means that it will be handled in Dallas… before you get too confused, let me explain. Tickets received in Dallas County do not always come from officers that represent the Dallas Municipal Court. Tickets can end up in one of the many Justice of the Peace Courts that are housed within the Dallas County limits. Just in case you’re wondering, there are 12 possible courts, no including Dallas Municipal, that your citation could originate from.

Citations out of a Justice of the Peace Court generally begin with the letter combination of JT and usually end in the letter P in JP 5-2.
